1 Month and Christmas

It's a little late but it has been a crazy few weeks of holidays and getting back into a schedule again for Miss Quinn and I.

Over the past few weeks, Quinn has met alot of new relatives and friends and has made a few adventures out. On december 19th, Grandma and Grandpa Gowens came to see their new granddaughter! They spent the week of Christmas with us.I think they enjoyed her very much!! On Christmas Eve, we went to Stonewood Grill for dinner and then went to Midnight Church Service. She slept through the whole thing. This was great other than the fact that she was up for the rest of the night except for two hours. It made for one sleepy momma on Christmas! Christmas morning , Ryan and I hosted Brunch for our parents with enough food that could have fed a small army including Brie, lil smokies, monkey bread, cinnamon bread, breakfast casserole and fruit. After all of the presents, we went over to Aunt Donnas for dinner where we had more good food.

This is our family picture on Christmas Eve.

The following days, Quinn met aunts , uncles and more cousins.

Needless to say Quinn is very loved and spoiled.

Last week, we celebrated 1 Month. It is amazing how quickly one month has gone by and how much she has changed.

Some of my  favorite things are:

- My Sleep and Play Rocker is where I take naps
-  I love listening to music, the bright colors and Wally the Whale on my baby einstein sea mat.
- Mommy's favorite diapers are pampers- even though I like to tease her by going boom boom right after she has changed me.
- I love my catepillar Wubanub
- Some of my favorite times are in my crib. I have just started focusing on things and talking a little.
-  I still love morning ( and evening) snuggle time.

At my 1 Month appt I was 9 lbs 1 oz and 21 inches. I was in the 75th percentile for my height and 50% for my weight.

Two weeks

Wow, I can't believe it has been two weeks since we welcomed Quinn into our world! I feel like all we do is feed, change diapers ( sometimes  change clothes)  and sleep! I managed to finish the christmas decorations but as for the Christmas shopping that is a different story.

Quinn's 2 week checkup went well! After losing 1 lb  her first week, she was back to 7lbs 10 oz, which was her birth weight. The doctor said she was in the 75 percentile for her height (20.75 in) and 25 percentile for her weight.

Here are a few things from the first two weeks
-  we love snuggle time but we also love to stretch out and take it all in
- so many facial expressions ( especially when she is getting ready to poop)
- so many diapers
- sleeps for about 2x three and half  hour blocks at night! ( mommy likes that!)
- very squirmy- especially when we are trying to change her diaper

We are looking forward to meeting more family this week and next!

Unexpected Blessing

So I decided ( thanks to the inspiration of a good friend, Courtney) that I would start a blog and hopefully keep it up of my journey as a new mom.

One week ago today, our little unexpected blessing came into our world.  I say unexpected because Ryan and I were not planning on a little one until we lived in the same city : ), but like I always say everything happens for a reason.

Last Monday, December 2nd 2013, I went into work like any other day. After a long night in L&D, with what i thought was contractions but was really something with my kidneys, I was exhausted.  I had been to L&D twice during the weekend and was becoming impatient but had to keep reminding myself that she would come when she was ready.  I had a doctor's appointment at 1:50, so I left work at 1:30 assuming I would be right back. After my check up, she said "how do you feel about having a baby today?"  With the high blood pressure I had developed and where I was in the pregnancy, she said she would have me induced. At this point, I was excited yet very scared all in the same. I wasn't quite sure of my feelings, which was the theme for the rest of the evening.  I called Ryan and my mom and asked if they were ready to have this baby today. As I waited for Ryan to get home from work , I finished packing our bags. Once he got home from work, we were off to the hospital.  I never forget how excited he was that she was about to be here. We also decided on her middle name on the way to the hospital. At the hospital, I went in and said I was here to be induced, they looked at me like I was crazy. I told them my doctor had called up to the hospital because she sent me up here. Turns out, it was not fully communicated to everyone. Once we got checked in, they got me all set up and started the pitocin. Dr Foutz came in and asked if I wanted her to break my water but wanted to wait until my mom got there. After awhile, my contractions got stronger and for some reason I was trying to hold out on the epidural. I gave in eventually. After the epidural, my water still had not broken on its own. They started closely monitoring the baby's heart rate and contractions. After about an hour, Dr Foutz came in and gave me the option of the C Section and expressed her concerns. She was concerned because of dips in her heart rate and the contractions. I had maybe 2 minutes to talk to Ryan about the C Section and then the nurses were already preparing me. I have never seen so many people move that fast. I am kinda glad I didn't have much time to think about it because I was scared.  The wheeled me off to the operating room , of course I was shaking uncontrollably. It seemed like forever till Ryan came in the room with me. It only seemed like a little time had passed when I heard the screams from our new little girl, Quinn Reagan. We welcomed her at 11: 11pm on Monday December 2nd. What a blessing she is!  After I was able see her for a few minutes, Ryan and her were wheeled off to the nursery. After this it seemed like FOREVER till they were done stitching me up. I eventually got to recovery and asked for my family.  I was finally with my family, all three of us! ( well, scobee had to stay home)

Even, after all the uncertainty and mixed emotions of the day, I was in heaven.
